  1. For those who don't know, I am a lifelong martial/ fighting artist and for the last thirty years have focused on women's self defense. You'll be seeing a lot of that here on HOE so get comfortable with it. This video and those that it links to are about Wing Chun Gung-Fu. A system of gung-fu considered to be one of the most effective on the market and one of a handful developed by a woman . I have at this point in my life been studying Wing Chun since 1987, so 24 years . I began my study under Shihan C. Comparatto through master Moy Yat, and have continued through the major lines under William Chueng , Augustine Fong, and others. Oddly it is not my primary system which is Kempo, but I like it well enough to have kept up with it.
With luck I'll be able to start teaching again this summer.
    Blessings,
    David

  2. For those with an interest, the hands play seen in this and the other video posted is referred to as chi-sau or sticky hands and is an integral part of wing chun / wing tsun as well as other chuan fa or Chinese based systems. The large wooden contraption is a mook jong or mook yang jong, a wooden dummy, which is simply a wooden sparring partner used to condition the body and build spacial awareness and that sort of thing. Arguements abound over the exact age of wing chun, but most agree that it dates back a minimum of 1,500 years.
    Peace,
    David
